A Breakthrough in Wet Finishing Systems

Wet processing is a significant procedure in knitwear production. It can improve dimensional stability, hand feel and garment appearance.

Three types of wet finishing machines are commonly used in Hong Kong industry. The side loading rotary drum machine has limited control functions. Shrinkage and pilling problems are easily found in garment finished with this machine...

Technology Exchange in Shanghai

Advanced technology, such as low yarn residual torque and twist level in knitwear, multiple functions such as water/oil/soil repellency, and one-off wrinkle-free treatment of textiles and recovery of garment flatness, is in high demand by the Hong Kong textiles manufacturers. The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) has carried out research and technology development with an aim of providing solutions to the industry. Yet these problems are not only found in Hong Kong, they are also faced by counterparts around the globe, such as in the mainland...

Energy-saving and Environmental-friendly Production of Brassiere Cups

The application of advanced design and manufacturing technologies in the traditional and labour-intensive brassiere cup manufacturing industry has recently attracted attention from the textile industry due to potential benefits in cost and time saving. With computer-aided design/ manufacturing/ engineering technologies (CAD/CAM/CAE) and knowledge-based engineering technologies (KBE), the brassiere cup manufacturing process can be streamlined and the production lead time shortened by around 50% ...

Exchange encourages development.
