HKRITA Showcases Successful Research Deliverables in

Fabric Sensors for Three Dimensional Surface Pressure Mapping
While traditional pressure sensors can be widely applied in our daily life, they are expensive and not easily adopted by the textiles industry. Traditional sensors, such as strain gauge and piezo-electrical sensor, have small deformability, with low sensitivity and short lifespan, and so are not suitable for measurement of such flexible and soft materials as textiles and apparel. Therefore there is a great demand expressed from the industry for fabric sensors which can do pressure measurement, especially for sportswear and specific applications...

Invitation for R&D Project Applications
HKRITA is now inviting applications for research and development projects. Applications will fall under one of the two R&D programme areas: Platform Research Programme and Collaborative Research Programme. Applications for funding should be classified under one of the following technology focus areas:
• New Materials and Textiles and Apparel Products;
• Advanced Textiles and Clothing Production Technologies;
• Innovative Design and Evaluation Technologies; and
• Enhanced Industrial Systems and Infrastructure.

Welcome on Board
Three new colleagues have joined HKRITA.
Ms Smitty Chiu, Project Officer of R&D Division, said, “I am glad to be a member of HKRITA. The job gives me an opportunity to get an in-depth understanding about the textiles and clothing industry. I am excited to meet any new challenges ahead.”
Another new Project Officer of the R&D Division, Ms Michelle Chow, told us that, “I would like to contribute my R&D experiences to the industry and build up a close relationship between HKRITA and collaborating parties. I am looking forward to learning from my supervisors and colleagues.”
“Having the solid work experience in the garment sector and the subsidised organisation, I hope and am confident that, with the support of the colleagues, I can do my best in every task and challenge,” said Ms Calos Ngai, Executive Assistant.
