Acousweep: An innovative Microplastic Fibre Separation System Using Sweeping Acoustic Waves
To overcome current shortcomings in collecting microplastic waste in water systems, HKRITA has developed this innovative and sustainable system to separate microplastics during water treatment, significantly preserving the water quality. The system utilises sweeping acoustic waves and a specially shaped chamber to trap and recover microplastic fibres effectively. Unlike existing filtration processes, the system enables continuous water treatment and easy collection of microplastic fibres by virtue of its acoustic manipulation technique.
- A special design chamber that facilitates waterflow and the collection of microplastic fibres
- A mere physical collection and separation method of microplastic fibre from laundry sewage water; no chemical nor membrane filter is needed
- Agglomeration of the filtered microplastic to form a cluster in macroscopic scale to provide convenience for any feasible after-treatment
