Machine Vision-based Verification Method and Device for Pre-production Woven Fabric

In textile mill, pre-production woven fabric is necessary to be produced and verified before mass production, so that the quality of the fabrics can be assured according to the weaving instruction. Currently, the verification of pre-production woven fabric is mainly depending on manual inspection. Since thousands of yarns need to be inspected, the verification is a labor-intensive and time-consuming task and thus causes inefficient and unreliable results. Meanwhile, weaving machine is idle until the verification is finished. This project will develop automatic verification method and device for pre-production woven fabric. The proposed device is a computer vision based device embedded with various intelligent machine vision techniques for automating the current process of verifying the pre-production woven fabric manufacturing process. The proposed device, which can be integrated with the currently used weaving machines, can automatically recognize the weaving instruction files and identify all kinds of defects in the verification process.
