A Method For A Green Yarn-Spun Structure With Moisture Wicking And Fast-Drying Effects

This study aims to develop a new yarn structure-based technology with high performance, durability and moisture wicking via physical method. Compared to conventional technology, this novel method has the advantages of simple process, environmental friendly, low cost and high suitability for industrial large-scale production or modification of moisture wicking yarns.


The newly developed technology involves yarn twisting technique and yarn covering technology. Using twisted yarns as the core materials and using another filaments or staples as the covering materials. This thus enables capillary actions, thereby improving the moisture absorption and moisture driving force of the natural yarn, and enhancing the overall moisture wicking and moisture guiding effect. Hence, it generates a breakthrough in moisture transport function of chemistry free technology to fill the current product gap and provide a core technology for future development.


The proposed technology also presents a high value-added and technological upgrades to satisfy the huge market demand and requirements, and thus sharpen the competitive edge of Hong Kong textile and fashion industry and business.
