Whether an office guy who needs to look sharp for the competition, or a creative people who dresses up because he likes to, tailored suit is the basic building block of looking good. Suit clothing a timeless, ever adaptable, uniform for every contemporary businessman. In Hong Kong, the urban development has been very concentrated on the north side of Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula, making Hong Kong among the crowdest cities in the world. Hong Kong businessmen move around the city every day for various commercial activities with their formal suits on. Hong Kong’s climate is hot and humid; businessmen often sweat a lot when they travel on subway, buses or other public transportation. After office hours, the hard-working Hong Kong businessmen would often meet up with their clients in various social occasions, again with their suits on. In view of the vibrant lifestyle of Hong Kong businessmen, this proposed research aims to innovate new methods to produce high performance Hong Kong bespoke men’s suiting for an updated urban professional application. The proposed study is focused on: 1) Enhancing fabric functions to strengthen protection and improve wearing comfort, in terms of air- and vapour- permeability. 2) From a knowledge management perspective, re-engineering traditional bespoke men’s suit patternmaking to streamline and optimize the cut and fit.
