Pioneering Progress: The Latest from the Open Lab
Open Lab, a pioneering initiative by The Hong Kong Research Institute of
Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) and H&M Foundation, aims to establish a
collaborative platform for the industry’s entire value chain to tackle
climate change. Since its opening, the Open Lab has attracted numerous
visitors and actively organises events to share insights.
Cross-sector Exchange
The visitors of the Open Lab come from local and international political
spheres, the textiles, fashion and retail sectors, as well as the
educational and environmental organisations. We demonstrate to our
visitors a mini yet complete closed-loop textiles recycling line that
covers
an AI-driven garment sorting system, recycling technologies and garment production facilities. Both the
apparel industry and other textile users can thus learn about the latest
circular technologies. This would help raise their environmental awareness
across various sectors and generate business value from the sustainable
practices.
