Technology Licenses Signed with Hong Kong Enterprises
The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) signed
technology licensing agreements with two local enterprises in October
2024. HKRITA and Angie International Limited signed one on the “Development of Functional Chitosan Fibre Blended Knitted Fabrics”. This project focuses on the characterisation, blending, and
development of chitosan fibre yarns and fabrics, which exhibit good
antibacterial properties, pilling resistance and dimensional stability.
These innovations make the fabrics ideal for wound healing and protection
against bacteria while retaining their biodegradable and biocompatible
nature. Angie International Limited, a uniform manufacturer, can benefit
from this technology by producing products with enhanced functions and
higher value.
Additionally, HKRITA signed another technology licensing agreement with
KTC Limited, a manufacturer of technical outdoor apparel on the project
“Decentralised Intelligent Platform for Made-to-Measure Mass
Customisation”. The project makes use of advanced digital technologies (including
remote body measurement technology, intelligent automatic grading and
blockchain technology) to develop a direct-to-consumer (D2C) service
platform. This platform provides a number of online services for
designers, tailors, material suppliers, consumers and small and
medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the garment industry. It allows
them to receive and place orders for customised apparel from anywhere in
the world, at any time. This helps the fashion industry, especially SMEs,
to cope with rapid changes in the industry.
