Job Description

[Appointment period: on 12-month contract]

Reporting to the Director, Business Development, the appointee will be required to:

  • take a vital role in managing the project of setting up The Open Lab, a new satellite sustainability-focused laboratory in Hong Kong;
  • oversee all the activities involved and progress of work, ensuring an on-schedule and smooth commencement of the new lab;
  • initiate, develop and coordinate program with internal and external partners (industry, academic, non-profits) to support strategic goals of the project;
  • lead visiting tours, public presentations, coordinate marketing activities with marketing team and support PR effort related to the project;
  • manage and control the budget of the Open Lab development, program and operations;
  • manage day-to-day operations of the Open Lab and maintenance of the site; ensure the lab complied with all statutory requirements and standards, as well as to formulate and implement policies and procedures on safety and health;
  • assist in coordinating, implementing and reviewing repair and maintenance work;
  • deal with enquiries, requests and complaints related to the facility management;
  • handle emergency incidents related to the Open Lab, such as destruction due to typhoon or flooding / power fault, etc.;
  • work closely with the Research, Business Development and Marketing teams to coordinate projects and new initiatives related to the lab; and
  • perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities/ Property Management or a related discipline;
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience in project management related to sustainability, textiles or R&D projects, including manufacturing and facility management. Experience in technology-related industry, lab management or research institutes being an advantage;
  • Conversant with government regulations, including Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance & Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance;
  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Enthusiastic team player;
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills with a strong sense of project ownership and proactive working attitude;
  • Independent, highly-organized and capable of working under pressure with multi-task assignments;
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Chinese, with a good command of Putonghua being an advantage.
