In applications such as medical devices, industry, robotics and wearable electronics, the size of sensors is a very important parameter. Fibers of a few microns in diameter are ideal candidates. Under the Guangdong-Hong Kong Technology Cooperation Funding Scheme, the present project is aimed to develop interactive intelligent textile material. Electrically conductive fibers and fiber assemblies and polymeric optical fiber will be developed for the small sized fibers sensors. The sensors to be developed should have high environment stability, long service life, reasonable material and production cost. The proposed project will investigate and develop design and fabrication technologies, as well as the package of single cell of fiber sensors, and explore their applications in industries.
