Jointly developed by HKRITA and Daiwabo Rayon Co., Ltd, this innovative technology presents a sustainable way to produce regenerated composite fibres from recycled cellulose, recovered from textile waste using proprietary hydrothermal separation technology. Compared to using conventional viscose fibre, the recycled cellulose can constitute up to 15% of the composite viscose fibre content and improve the dyeability of the composite fibre by up to 43%. Furthermore, the UV blocking function can be enhanced by 45% when appropriate additives are used. This project fosters sustainable development of viscose production by incorporating recycled cellulose in the commercial production of viscose fibres, thus reducing the use of virgin wood pulp.
