48th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (2023) - Silver Medal
The International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva is the world’s largest annual event devoted exclusively to inventions and the licensing market.
In this project, a series of eco-friendly multifunctional fabric with moisture management function (MMF), UV blocking and anti-bacterial characteristics will be designed and developed with green concepts to achieve the functional requirements as well as better hand feel. Based on the concept of fabric design, green fibres will be selected and treated to form the required yarn for fabric knitting or weaving. In the end of the project, a one-way-transfer moisture management fabric consists of nature and cellulose fibres, such as silk and lyocell fibres will be designed. An appropriate spinning method will be employed to produce and blend the selected eco-friendly materials to meet the structure requirement of MMF fabric.
Sporty fashion and leisure sportswear have become a major trend with the increasing wellbeing and sustainability consciousness. Sporty wear with excellent comfortability, air permeability, moisture management, anti-bacterial characteristics, UV blocking, and eco-friendly made are preferred. The result of this project can provide an alternative source of material to replace polyester or nylon, which are major materials of sporty or sports but they are not be easily recycled and have low air permeability compared to other materials.
