Trial: Develop a Knowledge Based 3D Shoe Design, Patterning & Mass Customization System to Strength the New Product Development Capability - Phase II

This PSTS project aims at the trial use of the developed 3D Shoe Design Software by the shoes / fashion designers for the production of elderly shoes prototypes. Twenty-four sessions of prototype trial run will be provided to thirty designers from the two supporting trade associations on the developed shoe design system and they will use the system to design and produce custom-made shoes for their specific elderly subjects. It helps the designers gain hand-on experience of shoe fabrication process from design to prototype making. This PSTS project also promotes the 3D Shoe Design Software and encourages footwear designers to enter the growing market of elderly shoes.

This project is developed based on the success of the phase I project (ITP/037/12TP) from which a knowledge base shoes design system has been developed particularly for ladies’ footwear, as well as the phase II project (ITP/045/15TP) that has enhanced the developed shoe design system by adding the design guidelines and testing standards specially for elderly shoes.
