Circulability of Post-Consumer Garment Identification by AI Computer Vision

This project aims to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI) vision system to identify the reuse value of post-consumer garments. It includes an image-based AI smart sorting technology for defect and garment brand recognition. The process involved collecting and validating reference samples, applying AI deep learning technic for auto-recognizing the general defects and brands from pro-consumer garments, developing edge AI vision cameras, and training and updating AI vision cameras by remote AI training servers. The goal is to achieve a robust and reliable method for qualifying the pro-consumer garments for circular. Further to the success of the previous ITF project Smart Garment Sorting For Recycling, the developed AI and deep learning models can be further improved and optimized to achieve a more advanced application. This research can perform sustainable practices to circular economics.
