Trial: Development of Occupational Safety and Health Shoes for FEHD
This project develops occupational safety and health shoes for Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) street cleansing teams with reference to the technology developed from the parent project “Asymmetric Competition Footwear for HK Olympic Fencing Team”. These occupational safety and health shoes consider breathability, water proof ability, durability, slip and abrasion resistance, antimicrobial, balance/stability, easy-cleaning, weight, and costs. It aims to improve comfort and to prevent foot injury during work by careful selection of material and ergonomic design.
Applying the technology and parameters of asymmetric fencing shoes to develop this occupational safety and health shoes by selecting suitable materials and testing their physical properties that fit the requirement of workers.
These occupational safety and health shoes can support street cleansing teams under different working environments to provide physiological protection for staff during work.
