Easypacer Shoes For Parkinsons Disease Patients

The present project is related with the completed parent ITF project “In-situ Multi- parameter Evaluation System for Smart Protective Apparel under High-speed Impact” (Ref no: ITP/007/10TP). The purpose to conduct this project is to enhance project deliverables to broaden applications in health care and rehabilitation field and produce the intelligent wearable system (named Easypacer) at industrial-scale via commercial processes. The proposed project will use the wearable sensing technologies to detect Parkinson patients’ abnormal gait and posture as an indication of freezing of gait (FOG) and set up cues for the patients to break the FOG, which will help prevention of falls, reduction of burden on the care providers, and improvement of quality of life for Parkinson patients. The trials will be conducted with collaboration of Hong Kong Parkinson’s Disease Association.
