Trial: Green Functional Underwear for Elderly with Limited Mobility

The proposed project is related with the completed parent ITF project “Manufacturing Technology of Green Textiles with High Added Value” (Ref. no: ITP/050/13TP). The purpose to conduct this project is to increase project deliverables to extend the applications in health care area, and help to improve the quality of life for elderly with limited mobility. The proposed project will involve the previously technologies developed of fabrication of knitwear and low-temperature dyeing, and will cover the following parts: 1) The fabrication of blend yarns, knitted fabrics, underwear and socks will be completed, and the socks will be manufactured by PHBV/PLA/cotton blended yarns, while the garments will be fabricated by Co-knitting, printing, finishing, cutting and sewing. 2) The important parameters of underwear and socks will be measured, such as surface properties, antimicrobial property against S. aureus, K. pneumoniae and C. albicans after washing, finishing and printing, abrasion resistance, thermal conductivity, handle feel and odor of garments before and after wear.
