Textiles Needs of Paraplegic and Quadriplegic Patients in Paediatric Hospitals

The proposed project aims to develop textile materials that are suitable for use in the very stringent environmental conditions of the paediatric hospitals. The paraplegic and quadriplegic patients have very sensitive skins and can easily get infected by the tinest of "dirt". However, all current textile materials and apparel are either very coarse or purchased from the market . In the former, the coarse materials will damage the patient delicate skins, while the latter cannot last the tough laundry conditions.
