Novel Quick Testing Sensors of Formaldehyde in Textile Fabrics and Clothing Products

The proposed of quick testing technology for toxic and harmful textile and clothing product (QTTP) is to facilitate quick testing of formaldehyde. One kind of hand-held sensor will be fabricated and can improve the quality and efficiency of testing by the state-of-art analytical techniques. Formaldehyde sensors will be prepared mainly using electrospinning and SMP (shape memory polymer) technology. Molecular imprinting polymer-based shape memory conductive nanofiber will be prepared by latex blending and electrospinning technologies. The conductive nanofiber has very low electrical threshold and very high specific surface area and hence provides improved processability. The idea is based on combining electric response of conductive nanofiber with the high selectivity and stability of molecularly imprinted polymer. And the analytical performance of the sensor with respect to response time, sensitivity, selectivity, reproducibility, and stability is evaluated. As a result, it is envisaged that the results could enhance the competitiveness of manufacturers though the development of new product, in enhancing QTTP's viability, performance, durability and quality.
